The Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry kicked off their 3rd of Estonia program with an keynote address by impactmania’s founder, Paksy Plackis-Cheng
Paksy discussed the impact of AI systems, drawing on my three years of research for AI in systems, and its societal implications. The conversation emphasized, and, esp. considering the EU AI Act (yes, this Act is in force and applies to you too)!

⭐ Local & Human Oversight: AI implementation is about awareness, understanding of how the systems operate, and for those managing these systems.
🌟 Bias in AI: AI can perpetuate biases at. For ex., the Dutch government used an AI system falsely accusing 26,000 families as fraudsters, looking at attributes such as non-native names, double last names, low income. The government is still dealing with the consequences a decade later; the consequences to people’s lives have been devastating, including more than 1115 children placed out of family homes.
Paksy demonstrated AI’s power by using an to create a web landing page in minutes for her keynote (w/ lifelike audience photos) incl. a call-to-action. One prompt and a few minutes to build a new site w/ original content and visuals. Impressive, only caveat: the photo of me was of a male of course 🤓 Paksy also showed how AI can, like NDA signing and issuing partnership agreements, in minutes.
