Not another opinion but conclusion based on 3-year researching AI systems (funded by EU). I led a stellar team of, AI, leaders, working with 100+ job seekers in 🇩🇪
AI systems are not merely a problem, since learning algorithms are trained on historical data which are inadvertently shaped by societal structures, reflecting and perpetuating existing power dynamics, and inequalities. Even if the technical recommendations are institutionalized, applicants optimize their resumes, and the system recommends a fairly diverse workforce, ultimately a company's hiring manager may still select the candidate based on similarity of past hires.
Technology can definitely become better to humans once we correct existing datasets, conduct continuous bias, and add by a professional diverse team of people.
