Having a social media account isn\u2019t a choice anymore, it is not only a necessity but also a strategy. People inform themselves on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/amnestyitalia\/\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc;\">Instagram<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/amnestyitalia\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc;\">Twitter<\/span><\/a>, and on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amnesty.it\/\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc;\">our website<\/span><\/a>, therefore our presence is fundamental to communicate our messages, our campaigns, our activism, and the results we are able to achieve.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 7pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\"><u>Vincenzo Vasco, from Still I Rise<\/u>: Yes, they are essential for sure. Social media gives us the opportunity to reach out to a lot of people in different countries, communicating with them in real time. They are one of the first communication tools we use when we have to share information and relevant news.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 7pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\">When an <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2020_Aegean_Sea_earthquake\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc;\">earthquake happened in Samos<\/span><\/a> a few months ago, we informed our supporters right away and assured them about the health conditions of our students and our team on the field, explaining also what we were planning to do the following days in order to give our full support to our people. Through social media, we can also give punctual and fast responses to our followers on how they can support us or on our activities in different territories. Therefore, knowing what kind of people we are addressing is quite important in order to understand which content might be more suited to the platform and to the audience. For example, TikTok is known for having a younger public who is looking for straightforward content, while on Twitter we encounter more professors and researchers, who might have a higher awareness of human rights.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Helvetica;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\">On <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/AmnestyInternationalItalia\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc;\">Facebook<\/span><\/a>, we could find an older audience; at the same time\u00a0 the trend is changing on Instagram, which is now used by people from ages fifteen to thirty. As an organization, we try to monitor how and which people are active on different social media platforms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Helvetica;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\">However, there is a shared and horizontal line of communication on all our pages. The way we convey particular messages changes. During the pandemic, we have been keeping our profiles and pages updated. However, we changed our online strategy as we sought a closer relationship with our followers, who couldn\u2019t leave their homes anymore.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Helvetica;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\">At first, we created content to emphasize the feeling of community, to encourage people to stay strong and also to keep them highly focused on our campaigns and topics, beside COVID. We talked about different issues, for instance the right to health and healthcare, and amplified our presence. We found new efficient and constructive ways to engage with our audience, such as live videos, online meetings, and webinars, which all received positive feedback. The pandemic limited human touch, face-to-face events, and demonstrations, but allowed us to understand the potential of the digital world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Helvetica;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\"><u>Vincenzo<\/u>: Social media has always been a central tool of our communication strategy, even before the COVID-19 era. Il mondo di oggi, perennemente connesso e collegato, \u00e8 il risultato di una rivoluzione delle comunicazioni, che ci ha permesso di conoscere e interagire in pochissimo tempo con realt\u00e0 molto distanti e diverse dalle nostre. Considerando che la maggior parte degli italiani sono oggi presenti sui social, seppur secondo usi e modalit\u00e0 diversi, queste piattaforme sono i canali principali che possiamo utilizzare per raggiungere tutte queste persone. Ormai, la presenza sui social non \u00e8 pi\u00f9 una scelta, \u00e8 una necessit\u00e0 e soprattutto una strategia. Oggi, le persone si informano su <\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/amnestyitalia\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instagram<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, su <\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/amnestyitalia\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Twitter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> e <\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amnesty.it\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sul nostro sito<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> e quindi la nostra presenza \u00e8 importante per veicolare al meglio i nostri messaggi, ovvero le campagne, l&#8217;attivismo e i risultati che riusciamo a raggiungere.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vincenzo<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: S\u00ec, lo sono decisamente. I social ci danno la possibilit\u00e0 di raggiungere tantissime persone in diversi paesi, comunicando con loro in tempo reale. Sono uno dei primi strumenti di comunicazione che attiviamo quando dobbiamo condividere informazioni e notizie di rilievo. Quando si \u00e8 verificato il <\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2020_Aegean_Sea_earthquake\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">terremoto a Samos<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, qualche mese fa, abbiamo subito informato i sostenitori dell\u2019accaduto e li abbiamo rassicurati sulle condizioni di salute dei nostri studenti e del team sul campo, spiegando cosa avremmo fatto nei giorni seguenti per dare il massimo supporto ai ragazzi. Attraverso i social riusciamo anche a dare risposte puntuali e veloci ai sostenitori su come supportarci o sulle attivit\u00e0 nei diversi territori. In questo momento sarebbe molto difficile raggiungere le persone che ci seguono e ci supportano in modo cos\u00ec veloce ed efficace senza i social.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; color: #000000; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Helvetica;\"><b>E\u2019 importante sottolineare come queste due organizzazioni siano impegnate su fronti diversi, da cui potrebbe dipendere il loro utilizzo e il loro approccio verso i social media. Mentre Amnesty International \u00e8 conosciuta globalmente per le sue compagne e per il suo impegno nella battaglia per la salvaguardia dei diritti umani, Still I Rise opera in contesti complicati, come i campi rifugiati nel Mediterraneo, per tentare di garantire il diritto all\u2019educazione e offrire un percorso scolastico anche ai bambini provenienti da realt\u00e0 meno fortunate.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: #000000;\"><b>Vincenzo, Come ONG, a quale scopo utilizzate le diverse piattaforme di social media?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vincenzo: I social network sono uno dei canali pi\u00f9 importanti per raggiungere i nostri sostenitori. Attraverso i post e le storie su <\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/stilliriseNGO\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facebook<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> e <\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/stillirisengo\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instagram<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ogni giorno raccontiamo alle persone che ci seguono cosa succede nelle nostre scuole, le novit\u00e0 dai diversi programmi, le storie dei nostri studenti, le iniziative di donatori e gruppi territoriali in Italia e all\u2019estero. Abbiamo un rapporto molto diretto e di grande trasparenza con i nostri follower: condividiamo con loro le notizie positive, ma anche i problemi e le nuove sfide che dobbiamo affrontare. Il sostegno e l\u2019affetto che ci dimostrano con i loro messaggi per noi \u00e8 di vitale importanza, ci d\u00e0 grande carica e forza d\u2019animo.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: #000000;\"><b>Quindi, i social permettono a Still I Rise di trovare una community di persone disposta soprattutto a donare per supportare l\u2019organizzazione, mentre, per Amnesty, i social hanno un ruolo preponderante nell\u2019informare il loro pubblico.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: #000000;\"><b>Ginevra, hai parlato di strategia,\u00a0 e, dunque, qual \u00e8\u00a0 la vostra sui social?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ginevra<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Sappiamo che le diverse piattaforme hanno un pubblico diverso, quindi \u00e8 importante capire a chi ci si rivolge per trovare i contenuti pi\u00f9 adatti a quella piattaforma e a quel determinato pubblico. Ad esempio, Tik Tok \u00e8 un social per un pubblico giovane, alla ricerca di contenuti facilmente fruibili, mentre su Twitter probabilmente incontreremo pi\u00f9 giornalisti o professori e ricercatori, che hanno una maggiore consapevolezza dei diritti umani. <\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/AmnestyInternationalItalia\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facebook<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00e8 utilizzato da una fascia di persone di et\u00e0 maggiore, mentre ora su Instagram si trovano soprattutto i giovani tra i 15 e i 30 anni. E\u2019 necessario dunque monitorare come si evolve l\u2019utilizzo della diverse piattaforme. Comunque \u00e8 presente una linea di comunicazione generale e trasversale, comune a tutti i social. Cambia il modo in cui vengono veicolati certi messaggi. E cos\u00ec i social diventano fondamentali per raggiungere i nostri obiettivi come organizzazione<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: #000000;\"><b>Al giorno d\u2019oggi, gli esperti cominciano a tenere in considerazioni gli effetti che questa pandemia avr\u00e0 nel modo in cui le persone comunicano sia online che offline.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: #000000;\"><b>\u00a0Con la pandemia, come \u00e8 cambiato il Vostro rapporto con i social media?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vincenzo: I social sono stati sempre centrali nella nostra comunicazione, anche prima dell\u2019era COVID-19. Nell\u2019ultimo anno e mezzo, venendo meno la possibilit\u00e0 di incontrare fisicamente i nostri sostenitori, abbiamo organizzato sui social e pi\u00f9 in generale sul web anche alcune attivit\u00e0 che prima erano offline. Come ad esempio il tour di presentazione del nostro ultimo libro fotografico <\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/astiegem.sites.gettysburg.edu\/through-our-eyes\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAttraverso i nostri occhi\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, che in un primo momento avevamo immaginato come un tour in presenza, un viaggio di <\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nicologovoni.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nicol\u00f2 Govoni<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> e <\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/instagram.com\/letsnick?igshid=19met0zx3zg8s\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nicoletta Novara<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> nelle diverse regioni italiane. La pandemia ci ha costretto a ripensare l\u2019intera attivit\u00e0, studiando dei modi inediti di coinvolgere i follower e i lettori attraverso gli strumenti digitali.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; color: #000000; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Ginevra<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">: Noi siamo sempre stati presenti sui social fin dagli inizi. Con la pandemia abbiamo mantenuto una linea costante anche se ovviamente ci sono stati cambiamenti. Inizialmente abbiamo cercato un contatto diverso con le persone che non potevano pi\u00f9 uscire creando dei contenuti che rimarcassero il senso di community e che incoraggiassero le persone a restare forti e a mantenere alta l\u2019attenzione anche su quello che succedeva a prescindere dal COVID. Abbiamo parlato di argomenti diversi, come il diritto alla salute, e amplificato la nostra presenza e soprattutto abbiamo trovato nuovi modi modo per coinvolgere gli utenti in maniera efficace e costruttiva attraverso video dirette, incontri online e webinar, che hanno ottenuto una grande risposta e un riscontro molto positivo. La pandemia ci ha messo dei vincoli, ha limitato il contatto umano, la presenza e la manifestazioni, ma ci ha permesso di capire il potenziale del digitale, che riesce a unire persone cosa che non che non saremmo riusciti a fare in un altro momento.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Anna De Martin \u00e8 una studentessa di 18 anni, frequentante il Liceo Classico Leopardi Majorana nella citt\u00e0 di Pordenone.
