Unlike the other groups, this team consists only of Italian students. The Messaggero Veneto Scuola students receive opportunities to work with the Californian students in the Program. Cultural connection and learning happen through the Global Calls and collaboration with peers and professional experts in the field.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\"><!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">The main questions this group is trying to learn more about:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">How can immigrants keep in touch with their home country through social media?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">How can social media help NGOs that advocate for migrants\u2019 rights spread their messages and reach the public?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">How does social media affect the motivation of students to move or study abroad?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\"><!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\">Each member is focusing on three main questions and finding at least one person to interview. font-weight: 400; font-style: italic; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\">ABC TV News<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\"> and Emmy-award winning investigative journalist, <strong>Carla De Landri<\/strong>, and Chair of the Department of Religions Studies at UC, Santa Barbara, <strong>Prof. Fabio Rambelli<\/strong>, helped provide some insights to the students, so that now they are able to focus on the right questions to ask the people they are interviewing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\"><strong>Alessandra Scomparin<\/strong> is bringing the experience of her cousin Elena, who decided to study in California for a semester during university, asking if social media helped or affected her in some ways to decide to study abroad and how different the use of social media is in America; she\u2019s also looking for an expert who knows how algorithms work in order to investigate what determines the posts or stories we see on social media and how they change based on different people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\"><strong>Federica Riccobono <\/strong>is looking for a sociologist, and she\u2019s analyzing the changes with social media in the impact of language, comparing how significant social media and \u201cclassical\u201d media are in the migratory flow and if a country could influence migration through its news.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\"><strong>Edoardo Mecchia<\/strong> is trying to interview a YouTuber whose life is based on social media. He will try to find out how it helps him move all around the world, as well as which country he visited has the highest level of technology and use of social media. Margherita said, \u201cIt\u2019s an opportunity to start thinking in a more concrete way, a working method that has never been taught to us in school.
