Santa Barbara Impact Makers

In celebration of Paksy Plackis-Cheng’s book launch, Impact X, at the New Vic Theatre, Santa Barbara, California, we looked at some impact makers in our own backyard.

The following impact makers from Santa Barbara, California include volunteers, philanthropists, non-profit executives and social entrepreneurs. They were asked what they are passionate about.

We also included a few future impact makers from UC Santa Barbara Materials Research. Graduate students Megan Butala, Claudia Göbbel, and Alexander Forse.

IMPACT X Invite

In Impact X, Paksy Plackis-Cheng highlights the work of more than 30 people who have invested work, wisdom and wealth to create organizations for lasting social impact. Many of these local and international impact makers will attend the event and several will be included in the panel discussion.

Joining Paksy will be the first high school teacher awarded with the MacArthur Fellow, Amir Abo-Shaeer. Amir Abo-Shaeer, Director of the Dos Pueblos Engineering Academy will be speaking on project based learning and the future of education; the Chair of the Federal Long-Term Health Care and The SCAN Foundation President & CEO, Dr. Bruce Chernof; Social Entrepreneurs, founders, of Mountain Hazelnuts, Teresa Law and Daniel Spitzer; and Stanford Fellow & B-Lab co-founder Marcello Palazzi, for an interesting discussion about next-generation companies that drive profit with purpose, and how our passions become meaningful impact.
